Bushnell Medalist Golfing Laser Rangefinder Review
The first thing I noticed about the Bushnell Medalist is that it is extremely simple and easy to operate, in fact, you could use this right out of the box without even reading the directions if you chose to do so. I like that, too many products are made so complicated that they are inconvenient to actually use. This is not the case with the Bushnell Medalist Laser Rangefinder. I definitely do recommend you read the instructions though, as you may miss some of the cool features that this rangefinder offers.
The Bushnell Medalist is intended to be a more economical rangefinder than the PinSeeker but still offering PinSeeker technology. It seems to accomplish that goal very nicely as we had no trouble being able to zero in on flags an even the 150 yard markers in the fairways. This rangefinder proved to be pretty stout but when the distance gets long, you may have to incorporate the PinSeeker mode to zero in on the flag. PinSeeker mode, if you are not familiar with it, will give you multiple ranges. If you are trying to pick up a flag at a long distance, PinSeeker will give you the range to the flag AND to the trees or objects behind it. No guessing whether you are ranging the right target, it gives you both.
In our experience the Bushnell Medalist performed quite well on the golf course and we had no trouble ranging up to around 300 yards for a flag stick and around 500-700 yards for trees. It’s rated to go up to 1000 yards if you are ranging a reflective enough surface but let’s get realistic, what good is ranging 1000 yards on a golf course do for you? Weather conditions can affect this of course, as with any laser rangefinder.
Who Should Buy the Bushnell Medalist Rangefinder
The Bushnell Medalist laser rangefinder is a perfect choice for the golfer who wants a quality name brand rangefinder that incorporates some high end technology but at a reasonable price. The Medalist is significantly cheaper than the PinSeeker 1500 but still offers PinSeeker technology, which is nice. The Bushnell Medalist is simple to use and quite compact measuring 1.7 x 4.5 x 3.8 inches and you will barely feel it in your pocket or bag at a featherweight 9 ounces.
