Leupold RX-1000 Rangefinder Review Mossy Oak

One look through the eye piece of the Leupold RX-1000 laser rangefinder will convince most people that this is a high quality range finder. The image is much more like looking through a good riflescope rather than a range finder, which is very desirable compared to some of the lesser quality range finders that I have experienced. The Leupold accomplishes this by using very high quality optics, which is a great foundation for a great rangefinder.

The Leupold RX-1000 features 6x magnification and an outstanding bright red LED display that stands out at both dawn and dusk which makes it very desirable compared to the standard black optics that many of the competitive rangefinders offer. The LED display has adjustable intensity and can be tweaked for your specific conditions. Another desirable feature for a hunting range finder is Leupolds True Ballistic Range (TBR) system that takes into account elevation changes to allow you to adjust for an uphill/downhill shot angle.

No bigger than a pack of cigarettes, the Leupold will easily tuck into your pocket and when you combine this with the easy to use controls and 1000 yard range capability then you have a great laser range finder from a high quality company.

Who Should Buy a Leupold RX-1000

The RX-1000 is an ideal choice for a hunter who is seeking a high quality laser range finder that will work well under all but the most extreme ranges. Those who prefer not to have to read a 100 page manual just to figure out how it works will appreciate the ease of use and simple operation that the Leupold RX-1000 provides. A great all around choice for a hunting laser range finder at a very reasonable price.

This laser range finder will range distances of a larger object up to approximately 700 yards, making it ideal for the hunter who needs a high quality range finder. We had the chance to put one of these through it's paces and were very pleasantly surprised with many of the features.

One of the things that we liked immediately was simply the aesthetics of this rangefinder. It fits nicely in your hand and is lightweight and compact. The eye relief was very comfortable and just felt good against our face. It worked nicely and easily met our needs. The Bushnell rangefinder can be switched back and forth from priority one and two for extra versatility and another neat feature that we really liked was the scan function. You can hold down the button and range from object to object for up to 20 seconds, very handy if you want to kind of get a lay of the land and an idea of the terrain around you.

The 6x magnification and high quality optics provide a very high quality view of what you are looking at. It will never replace a high quality pair of ranging binoculars BUT it's not even close to as expensive and is more compact and easy to carry with you weighing in less than 7 oz.
